Machu Picchu Entrance Tickets - Pumadventures

Starting on June 1, 2024, 3 new circuits and routes for visiting the Inca city of Machu Picchu will be implemented. The new 03 circuits and routes of visit of the Inka city of Machupicchu are the following:

  1. Circuit 1 (Panoramic)
  2. Circuit 2 (Machu Picchu Classic)
  3. Citcuit 3 (Machu Picchu Royalty)

In total, we have 10 different tickets; however, 4 out of the 10 are available only during the high season. Below, you will find the descriptions of each ticket and the link to the map:

  1. Circuit 1 (Panoramic) – Route 1-A: Machu Picchu Mountain Route – Map – With this ticket, you will visit only the upper and lower terraces and the Guardian’s House. You won’t enter inside the citadel; however, you will have the opportunity to hike to Machu Picchu Mountain and take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu Mountain stands at 3,082 meters, and this challenging hike rewards adventurers with panoramic views of the iconic citadel and surrounding peaks. The hike to the top of the mountain can take 2-3 hours. It is recommended to purchase this ticket at least 1 month in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book approximately 2 months in advance.
  2. Circuit 1 (Panoramic) – Ruta 1-B: Ruta Terraza Superior – Map – With this ticket, you will visit only the upper and lower terraces and the Guardian’s House. You won’t enter inside the citadel, but you will enjoy a panoramic view of Machu Picchu Citadel and take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. This is a short circuit, and if you want to enjoy more of Machu Picchu, it is recommended to purchase this ticket with Citcuit 3. It is recommended to purchase this ticket at least 1 month in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book approximately 2 months in advance.
  3. Circuit 1 (Panoramic) – Ruta 1-C: Ruta Portada Intipunku (Available only during High Season – From June 1st to October 15th) – Map – This ticket is only available during the high season. You will be able to visit only the upper and lower terraces and the Guardian’s House. You won’t enter inside the citadel; but you will have the opportunity to hike to Intipunku (Sun Gate) and enjoy a panoramic view of Machu Picchu Citadel. The hike to Intipunku can take around 20 minutes one way.
  4. Circuit 1 (Panoramic) – Ruta 1-D: Ruta Puente Inka (Available only during High Season – From June 1st to October 15th) – Map – This tickets is only available during high season. You will be able to visit only the upper and lower terraces, the Guardian’s House. You won’t enter inside the citadel; but you will have the opportunity to hike to Puente Inka (Inca Bridge) and enjoy a panoramic view of Machu Picchu Citadel. the hike to Puente Inka can take around 10-15 minutes one way.
  5. Circuit 2 (Machupicchu Classic) – Ruta 2-A: Ruta diseñada – Map – This circuit explores the main citadel of Machu Picchu. On this circuit, you can discover its most iconic landmarks, including the Temple of the Sun, and the Temple of the Three Windows. The circuit offers an exploration of the urban, ceremonial, and residential areas of Machu Picchu, allowing us to appreciate this ancient Inca citadel to the fullest. With this ticket, you will be able to take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. It is recommended to book this ticket 2 to 3 weeks in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book up to 2-3 months in advance.
  6. Circuit 2 (Machupicchu Classic) – Ruta 2-B: Ruta Terraza Inferior – Map – This circuit explores the main citadel of Machu Picchu. On this circuit, you can discover its most iconic landmarks, including the Temple of the Sun and the Temple of the Three Windows. The circuit offers an exploration of the urban, ceremonial, and residential areas of Machu Picchu, allowing us to appreciate this ancient Inca citadel to the fullest. The main difference with the previous ticket is that you will be able to take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu from the lower terrace. It is recommended to book this ticket 2 to 3 weeks in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book up to 2-3 months in advance.
  7. Circuit 3 (Machupicchu Royalty) – Ruta 3-A: Ruta Montaña Waynapicchu – Map – This ticket offers a visit to the lower part of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun, qolqas, water mirrors, Temple of the Condor, and a hike to Wayna Picchu, the towering peak that overlooks Machu Picchu. The hike up Wayna Picchu offers breathtaking views of Machu Picchu from a different vantage point. With steep and narrow pathways, this hike provides up-close encounters with Machu Picchu’s terraced ruins and offers stunning vistas of the Urubamba River valley. It takes around 1 hour to reach the top of the mountain. With this ticket, you won’t be able to take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. It is recommended to purchase this ticket at least 1 month in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book approximately 3 months in advance.
  8. Circuit 3 (Machupicchu Royalty) – Ruta 3-B: Ruta diseñadaMap – This ticket is almost the same as the previous one; however, it doesn’t include the hike to Wayna Picchu. You will visit the lower part of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun, qolqas, water mirrors, and the Temple of the Condor. It takes around 1 hour to reach the top of the mountain. With this ticket, you won’t be able to take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. It is recommended to purchase this ticket at least 1 month in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book approximately 1 month in advance.
  9. Circuit 3 (Machupicchu Royalty) – Ruta 3-C: Ruta Gran Caverna (Available only during High Season – From June 1st to October 15th) – Map – This tickets is only available during high season. It offers a visit to the lower part of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun, qolqas, water mirrors, Temple of the Condor, and a hike to Gran Caverna. This hike takes around 40 minutes to reach the Gran Caverna. With this ticket, you won’t be able to take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. It is recommended to purchase this ticket at least 1 month in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book approximately 3 months in advance.
  10. Circuit 3 (Machupicchu Royalty) – Ruta 3-D: Ruta Huchuypicchu (Available only during High Season – From June 1st to October 15th) – Map – This tickets is only available during high season. It offers a visit to the lower part of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun, qolqas, water mirrors, Temple of the Condor, and a hike to Huchuy Picchu Mountain. This hike is the easiest of all the peaks and will take about 40 minutes to ascend to the top of the mountain and return to the Machu Picchu citadel. With this ticket, you won’t be able to take a famous panoramic photo of Machu Picchu. It is recommended to purchase this ticket at least 1 month in advance. During the high tourist season (from April to October), it is recommended to book approximately 3 months in advance.

What are the entrance times?

Group 1: Entry to Machu Picchu from 6 to 7 am.
Group 2: Entry to Machu Picchu from 7 to 8 am.
Group 3: Entry to Machu Picchu from 8 to 9 am.
Group 4: Entry to Machu Picchu from 9 to 10 am.
Group 5: Entry to Machu Picchu from 10 to 11 am.
Group 6: Entry to Machu Picchu from 11 am to 12 pm.
Group 7: Entry to Machu Picchu from 12 to 1 pm.
Group 8: Entry to Machu Picchu from 1 to 2 pm.
Group 9: Entry to Machu Picchu from 2 to 3 pm.
Group 10: Entry to Machu Picchu from 3 to 4 pm.
