This report is mandatory for participation, confirming your physical and psychological well-being. If you lack this document, a local check-up in Cusco is required at an additional cost. Participants over 50 may need an extra test, either in their home country or upon arrival, for an additional fee.

How to Prepare for Altitude Sickness and the Ayahuasca Ceremony?

Cusco’s high altitude may induce sickness, so acclimatize by drinking coca tea, water, and herbal teas upon arrival. In case of worsened symptoms, inform us immediately for professional assistance. We always suggest to arrive in the Sacred Valley a day or two before the retreat to minimize altitude-related discomfort.

What to pack for my trip to Peru?

Pack essentials like a day backpack, rain gear, waterproof shoes, warm clothing, flashlight, camera, sunscreen, insect repellent, toiletries, swimsuit, cash, and necessary documents including passport and student ID if applicable.

When is it not advisable to ancestral plants?

People with certain health conditions such as colon problems, high blood pressure, heart conditions, diabetes, mental illnesses, or pregnancy should avoid plant medicine. Ensure you’re physically and spiritually prepared for the retreat.

Is a specific diet required before the ceremony or taking ayahuasca medicine?

We suggest adhering to a purifying diet, avoiding meat, alcohol, drugs, spicy foods, and prescribed medication at least a week before the retreat. Gradually eliminate stimulants and consume a light breakfast and vegetable soup on the retreat day.

Information about tipping staff?

Tips are appreciated and should reflect your satisfaction with the service provided by guides, drivers, and spiritual teachers. While not mandatory, tipping acknowledges their dedication to ensuring your trip is memorable.

Do I need travel insurance?

What is included in my trip?

Every sacred journey or retreats has a field specifying every item included, and excluded in the price. For longer trips please refer to the PDF itinerary which you can ask for through the Enquiry form. 

Items not specifically indicated as included, are generally not included. Examples are international flights, early check-ins or late check-outs (unless stated otherwise), souvenirs, laundry, tips, insurance and other personal expenses, and those items marked as optional. Optional trips should be booked in advance.

Can I travel alone?

Pumadventures offers tours perfectly suited for solo travelers! You will share your experience with people with similar interests and a taste for exploring the world. If you prefer a single room, you may reserve one by paying the single supplement (which reflects the additional costs charged by hotels and trains). Can I bring children on my journey?

Travel is a wonderful way for the younger generation to learn about the world and for families to spend time together. Past travelers report that these are among the best travel experiences they have ever enjoyed. Trips that are not specifically designated as family journeys are designed with adults in mind. Some may be suitable for older children, however, please check with us before booking. Regardless of age, children must pay full price unless otherwise noted, and a parent or guardian must accompany those under 18.

I don’t always want to travel in a group. Do you offer independent travel that I can customize to my own requirements?

What can I expect from the weather in Peru?

The summer months of Peru, from December to March, is the wettest season that contains frequent heavy showers. With high temperatures in the day, it can drop quite significantly during the night. The winter months, from May to September, are the driest months, making it the idea time for traveling.
