Wachuma, Huachuma, or San Pedro all share the same meaning but may appear under different names. San Pedro is a five-ribbed cactus used by the Andean people in ceremonies. When you take part in ceremony with San Pedro, you remember who you are and why you came here. We remember that Mother Earth is alive and breathing, we recognize that love is the essence of all things. There are a lot of different ways to discover yourself, reconnect within, and Wachuma is one of the powerful tools that was used by our ancestors.

San Pedro facilitates healing, connects with the spirit world, and helps gain wisdom. Many masters and shamans refer to San Pedro as the «Heart Doctor,» as it heals wounds and traumas that we carry. It is both a teacher and a guide, leading individuals on a journey of self-discovery, love, and enlightenment while providing profound healing and transformation. Throughout life, we accumulate emotional burdens and heavy energies. These burdens can weigh down the spirit, creating emotional distress and hindering personal growth. Wachuma’s medicine works to clear these energies, transforming fear, guilt, and doubt into love, trust, and willpower.

The San Pedro ceremony is usually done in sacred places, which facilitate transformation and allow for the reception of knowledge essential for now. The lineage of our masters comes from Qanchis Ylla Intiq Churinkuna, also known as the Rainbow Lineage. The rays of the rainbow serve as powerful guides, healers, and protectors, assisting us in spiritual and personal growth while passing on timeless knowledge about the Earth and its energies to others.

During the ceremony, we work with different rays, as they carry specific medicine. The seven rays of the rainbow bring their wisdom and assist in ceremony. If we need more passion and vitality, we call in a red ray. We call in orange ray for joy and happiness, yellow for inner peace and harmony, green for physical healing and renewal, blue for willpower and determination, violet for transformation and forgiveness, and sky blue for courage and protection. By working with these rays, we can deepen understanding of ourselves and our connection to the universe. We call upon the rays in meditation, prayer, and ceremonies, building a relationship with them and Wachuma’s wisdom.

We usually say «Noqan Kani Huachuma» («I am Huachuma»), to affirm and call in the wisdom and mission of this sacred medicine. Being in ceremony with San Pedro teaches us leadership with humility, respect, and deep love. We can see a bigger picture where every action is an offering to the collective well-being of humanity. Being in ceremony reminds us of our path of unconditional love, service, respect and connecting with all living beings.
