In the Andes, healers and strong medicine men typically use a Mesa, or Medicine Bundle. The sacred Mesa is quite a symbol of pure connection and solemn ceremony, properly representing our deep bond with our singular Mother Earth and our own ancestors. As we do indeed work with our Mesa, we are also reminded of the true importance of honoring Pachamama. And also, we are grounding ourselves within her energy. By fully connecting ourselves with our sacred altar, we can tap right into all of the wisdom and energy of our ancestors.
A Mesa bears with it the energy for healing, connection, and ceremony. Inside are sacred stones, known as khuyas, and everything is covered with a customary blanket. Each khuay is programmed with prayers and with deep intentions by Mesa Carrier. Alongside them, we also may place some crystals, feathers, herbs, and sundry other natural objects, all of which still hold a specific program, energy and memory. Across periods, as we labor alongside our Mesa, it gradually evolves together with us and mirrors our individual adventure and overall growth. When we do sit down in front of our own Mesa, we are just never alone. All over the world, others are doing the same – lighting candles, saying prayers, along with connecting with the sacred. In just this way, this practice becomes part and parcel of something even more greater: a global circle of energy, as well as love, and also transformation.
Through our prayers, we send out light, unconditional love, along with joy, recognizing all of the different vibrations present within the world. We invite those on similar or higher frequencies to join us along with a gentle uplift of any energies that need transformation. We carry along our Mesas wherever we go, keeping us connected to specific energies that we work with and programmed. Whenever we precisely set our intentions, in addition to calling upon the Apus (mountain spirits), we therefore create a truly powerful space for healing; we also create a truly powerful space for transformation. In so doing, we open ourselves up to both the light as well as the energy of the universe, aligning ourselves with the highest possible frequencies available to us.

Working with such a Mesa means stepping into one space of complete reverence, gratitude, and connection – with all beings, seen and unseen. Conveying this sacred bundle means both a true honor and a deep responsibility, allowing all of us to duly serve our families, our communities, and also the world. Through sincere prayer along with sacred ceremony, we fully tap into real ancient wisdom, truly guiding us onward upon our destined path for healing and pure transformation.
The Mesa is infused with many energies of the Apus, Ñustas, elements, and spirits. It is shaped by prayers and dreams. It does support transformation on every single level; that is, physical, emotional, and also spiritual. Over the course of time, it becomes not just a tool but a trusted companion, a teacher, along with a mirror of our own adventure. This certain tradition has been passed down through many generations with much care, and it ensures that the wisdom of the past continues to illuminate the path for those few seeking connection. This wisdom also continues to illuminate the path for those people seeking healing, as well as a greater comprehension of their place in the world.
