Extra details

Ayahuasca has for a long time been used as a spiritual as well as a healing medicine by the indigenous peoples of the Amazon. The teachings of Ayahuasca can lead you to enlightenment, healing and also self realization.

Ayahuasca is a holy drink made using Ayahuasca vine and Chakruna leaves; these plants are greatly honored by Amazonian and Andean peoples. This powerful plant medicine is known as ‘the grandmother spirit’ and has been used both for healing and for achieving spiritual transformation, assisting people to reach a higher level of consciousness and to have a better comprehension of the spiritual and natural world.

The Unique Power of a Cusco Ayahuasca Retreat

In the heart of the Andes, experience ayahuasca. A Cusco retreat has a different energy, one that is not jungle energy. You are surrounded by magnificent mountain, and ancient Inca power spots, and the profound wisdom of the Andes. This high-altitude environment is great for introspection and spiritual awakening.

Unhealthy Habits and Patterns
Overcoming addiction and other unhealthy habits is difficult. Therefore, the sacred medicine of ayahuasca is used for healing and detoxification. The goal is for the person to free themselves from all the ties that bind them to that pattern or addiction, while also allowing themselves to forgive and release all the harm these habits have caused.

Anxiety and Fear
As with other ailments such as depression, the sacred medicine of Ayahuasca can help with anxiety by directly addressing the root of the problem and helping the person heal and release the fears that cause it.

Exhaustion
With so much work, worries, and growing problems we face every day, it’s no surprise that many of us suffer from exhaustion. Ayahuasca offers us the opportunity to start fresh, with all our worries and difficulties. Ultimately, it will be like a reboot and will help you feel like you’re starting over with renewed energy.

Social Conditioning
Many of the decisions we make in life are conditioned by our family, friends, or society. Sometimes, to such an extent that we cease to be happy with ourselves. In this case, the benefits of Ayahuasca medicine are applied by helping people find themselves.

Post-Traumatic Stress
Ayahuasca medicine is one of the most sought-after treatments. Why? Numerous surveys highlight the benefits of this therapy, which can help overcome trauma and release the person from the situation that caused it.

Preparation for Ceremony

When preparing for and participating in an Ayahuasca ceremony, it’s important to avoid certain things for your safety, emotional well-being, and to honor the sacredness of the experience. Here’s what to avoid one week prior:

Before the Ceremony:

  • Pharmaceutical drugs: Especially antidepressants (like SSRIs), MAOIs, or stimulants. These can interact dangerously with Ayahuasca.
  • Alcohol and recreational drugs: These can interfere with the medicine and your clarity.
  • Heavy, processed, or spicy foods: Especially pork, red meat, fried food, sweets, carbonated drinks, caffeine, fermented food, and dairy – your body needs to be clean and light.
  • Any Sexual activity: This helps conserve energy and intention.
  • Negative or chaotic environments: Stay grounded and calm; your energy before the ceremony matters.

Note:

  • Women, who have their periods, are pregnant or breast feeding SHOULD REFRAIN.
  • People with heart problems SHOULD REFRAIN.

During the Ceremony:

  • Judging your visions or emotions: Trust what comes. Master Plants work in mysterious ways.
  • Breaking sacred space: Respect the collective energy and guidance of the facilitator.

Ayahuasca Retreat Itinerary

Day 1: Ceremony & Introduction

These ceremonies take place in the evening. Depending on your location, we will pick you up around 4:00 PM and bring you to Chinchero, where our center and the ceremony are held. You will have the option to either spend the night in Chinchero after the ceremony or return to your accommodation in Cusco or the Sacred Valley the same evening. Upon arrival, you will receive an introduction to the medicine and a talk about working with Master Plants. The ceremony itself typically lasts between 3 to 4 hours. During the ceremony, our Ayahuasca Master will guide and support your process with various rituals and sacred icaros (healing songs).

The amount of medicine given to each participant is carefully determined based on their energy level and mental strength – it is not a standard dose for everyone, but rather tailored to individual needs. After the ceremony, we will transport you back to your location unless you choose to stay overnight.

Day 2: Reintegration & Return

If you decide to stay in Chinchero, the following morning you will participate in a reintegration circle to help you process and integrate your experience. Afterwards, our transportation will return you to your hotel in Cusco.

This day is focused on understanding and carrying forward the insights from your Ayahuasca journey. The reintegration circle provides a supportive space for sharing and reflection.

FAQs

1. What makes an ayahuasca Cusco experience unique compared to the Amazon jungle?

This is a great query that gets to the core of our work. Though the Amazon is Ayahuasca's holy birthplace, experiencing it in Cusco provides a strikingly different but equally strong energy. The Andes' big mountain spirits, the Apus, welcome you here. This establishes a grounding, solid, and protective energy for your travels. Incorporating ceremonies like coca leaf readings or Pachamama (Mother Earth) offerings, our ayahuasca ritual in Cusco sometimes combines traditional Amazonian practices with Andean knowledge.

This one-of-a-kind combination offers a vessel of great spiritual power, so facilitating the integration of Ayahuasca's celestial visions with the profound, fundamental energy of the earth. Many think the more crisp, high-altitude energy of Cusco aids in negotiating the depths of the drug with more awareness and focus.

The definition of any real retreat and our top concern is your safety. To guarantee a genuinely secure and transforming ayahuasca trip in Peru, particularly in Cusco, you must search for certain important markers. Experienced Maestros or Maestras, frequently from Shipibo or Q'ero ancestry, who have devoted their lives to a demanding route of instruction and dietas, lead first authentic centers. Second, ceremonies' group sizes have to be small and cozy.

This helps the shaman to give individual attention and keep a powerful, protective energetic containment for all. At last, a really responsible center will provide devoted integration assistance following your events and conduct a thorough medical screening procedure. Never select a retreat that makes great claims or stresses you; the actual path is one of modesty, respect, and deep concern for every participant.

Stepping into a sacred, eternal realm is like entering an ayahuasca ceremony in Cusco. Usually conducted at night in a darkened room or maloka, the ritual aims to assist you concentrate inward. Prayer and the cleansing smoke of mapacho (sacred tobacco) will mark the beginning of our Maestro's opening of the area. You will drink the medication, which tastes earthy and strong after setting your goal. The Maestro starts to hum the icaros—sacred melodies that are the language of the plant spirits—as the medicine kicks in.

These compositions steer the voyage, remove bad energies, and help one to negotiate the visionary worlds. Deep insights, emotional discharge, physical expulsion (vomiting, regarded as a strong cleanse), and a great feeling of oneness with the cosmos could come on. To make sure you feel held and secure throughout the whole process, our facilitators are always on hand to provide silent support.

The dieta, which prepares the person for the rite, is as vital as the rite itself. It shows great regard for your own body and spirit as well as for the medication. We want you to cleanse your body at least one to two weeks before your arrival at our ayahuasca workshop in Peru. This entails a bodily purification: giving up pork, alcohol, spicy foods, caffeine, and too much salt and sugar. The mental and spiritual preparation is just as crucial.

We advise abstaining from sexual activity, restricting your exposure to violent or negative news, and centering your energy inward. Meditation, quiet contemplation, and clearly defining your healing goal are all possible during this time. Coming with a clean body and a humble, open heart lets the medicine work with you on a considerably deeper and more profound level.

Totally. For us, the event marks only the start of the healing path. The great insights and lessons from Ayahuasca can vanish like a distant dream without adequate integration. True change comes when you integrate those realizations into the fabric of your everyday life. That is why every one of our Peru packages for ayahuasca retreats comprises a planned integration program.

This entails circles shared the morning following each ceremony, in which you may process your experience in a secure and encouraging group context. We also offer resources and advice on journaling, meditation, and individual contact with our instructors. Our goal is to arm you with the tools you need to continue that healing, not just to provide a strong ayahuasca ritual in Cusco. establishing long-lasting good changes in your life long after you leave the holy mountains of Cusco.
