Puno
Adventure to Puno, by the great Lake Titicaca there sits such a town quietly. PUNO CITY
The Main Square
Step into the heart of the town at the Main Square, you’ll see an old Catholic church, built during 1747 by Simeon de Asta. Local women dressed in their finest customary clothing gather upon the steps of the church on certain special days. This honors an ancient custom in order to meet with those who seek connection. Hotels that are welcoming as well as cozy restaurants do surround the square full of life where the spirit of the land is shared. The community’s pulse as well as the wisdom from past generations can be felt within the space.
History
Puno, known as «The Land of Camelidae,» is the place where the Tiahuanaco culture once thrived, a place of time’s echoes. These ancient people powerfully bequeathed legacies, like the Puerta del Sol (The Sun Gateway), and it is a stone temple that speaks to how deeply they connected with the land and also the universe.
Festivals do keep that spirit of Puno quite alive, with the city honoring the Virgen de la Candelaria, particularly in February. Acts of song, acts of dance, and acts of devotion make each of the streets come alive at almost this time. The air is filled up with all of the rhythms that are of customary dances such as the «Caporales» and «Diablada,» dances passed down through time from generations, carrying all of the stories of the people. Thousands gather to celebrate. The strength and unity of their ancestors are remembered. Puno does not merely exist as a place; it deeply connects to the past, fully attests to culture’s endurance, and greatly celebrates community.
Lake Titikaka
Lake Titicaca lies between the lands of both Peru as well as Bolivia, the highest lake for boats to travel. The deep blue waters of it reflect that same sky on certain clear days, and they hold that sun’s warmth just like a sacred mirror. Its waters have witnessed the rise of tribes and also the clash of cultures. From faraway lands, strangers arrived at this ancient of lakes. The past’s spirit continues toward defining the present wherein the people’s stories are twisted into the lake’s very fabric itself.

The world opens up from that point, and then you will witness such untouched, timeless, wide-ranging beauty in Lake Titicaca and in surrounding mountains. Ancient temples of Pacha Mama and Pacha Tata stand as mute reminders of those from this sacred space who preceded us. You’ll also see the Inca Tihana, the Incachincana, and the haunting cemetery of mummies, each holding stories from the past. The energies of the land and of the water, as well as those of the ancestors, flow together in such a place. It invites for you to connect up with something that is much larger than you.
Taquille Island
Taquile is a quiet place that is not very far from Amantani where the people’s language speaks from within the land. The people right here eagerly do share all of the stories carried on through the generations and the rhythms of a life are old. The several men create beautiful crafts from materials. The women do nurture the land, tending to the crops with such care. That it flows in harmony with nature as a way to live feels so different from so much of Peru. Take a few of their crafts with you upon your visit since wisdom passed down through time created them as well as their crafts carrying the island’s spirit. Bring a small amount of money to be sure, so with a fragment of their world you can leave.
Archaeological site of Sillustani

The towers one time held remains of those leaders of the Collao people. A small museum nearby cradles artifacts from ancient cultures like Inca, Tiahuanaco, and Colla. Such remnants connect people to such past times and honor those spirits around that walk this land because remnants are pieces from earth’s memory, not just objects.
The Uros

The Uros deeply connect to both the Earth as well as water. Therefore, these islands do far more than exist as basic structures. Across the lake, their several customary boats carry them, made from totora as they continue within their timeless ways. The Titicaca National Reserve, it protects the reeds and also the life that thrives here in a huge land of 36,180 hectares, ensuring of the Uros’ way of life that it endures, and that the spirits of this sacred place do remain strong.

FAQ'S 2025
Cusco is a destination that you can visit in it year-round. During the dry season, which lasts from May to October, it is recommended to hike and explore certain mountains. Those mountains include Rainbow Mountain, Humantay Lake or Inca Trail. During each rainy season, from each November to each April, it is often advisable to remain prepared for more occasional rain. If you would like to enjoy consistently good weather and travel at a more relaxed pace with considerably fewer crowds, we recommend visiting during the shoulder seasons, from April to May and September to November.
Prior to adventures to high elevations, visit your doctor to make sure that your body is prepared. For easing the acclimatization process, we suggest going to the Sacred Valley upon your actual arrival in Cusco and spending a bit of time there. The Sacred Valley is situated at a lower altitude than is Cusco, and that will help your own body adjust much more smoothly. Another option would be to stay there in Cusco and to then allow yourself a few more extra days. This is all to acclimate prior to the start of the program. Drink plenty of water, have coca tea in the morning, avoid alcohol, along with eat light meals. Prior to taking each medication, be sure to consult with your doctor.
We recommend booking your experience at least 4 – 6 months in advance. If your trip includes Machu Picchu, the Inca Trail, or other high-demand destinations, you may need to be flexible with dates and entrance tickets if you book less than four months in advance. Permits are very limited per day and sell out extremely quickly from May to September. For busy peak months like June and July, we highly recommend booking even earlier to secure your spot.
