Our 2-day Short Inca Trail is the perfect choice for those looking to explore the final, breathtaking segment of the renowned 4-day Inca Trail. As you traverse through Peru’s enchanting cloud forest, you’ll be surrounded by vibrant orchids, diverse bird species, and stunning views, all while passing ancient Incan archaeological sites on your way to Machu Picchu.
Throughout your journey, you will also delve into the spiritual aspects of this sacred land, connecting deeply with the apus (mountain spirits) and Pachamama (Mother Earth).

- Quickdry towel. We provide small ones, you might prefer something larger (for the Aguas Calientes hot springs – Optional )
- Comfortable hiking boots.
- Wide-brimmed hats and long-sleeved shirts for sun protection
- Waterproof jacket or poncho for the rainy season

Itinerary
Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
Route: Cusco → KM 104 Chachabamba → Wiñaywayna → Sun Gate → Machu Picchu → Aguas Calientes.
Your adventure begins with a private pick-up from your hotel in Cusco, followed by a scenic train journey to Km 104 at Chachabamba (2200 m). Upon arrival, explore the archaeological marvel of Chachabamba (2178 m), nestled within Peru’s lush cloud forest. As you traverse the trail, delight in the vibrant orchids and diverse birdlife that surround you on your way to the archaeological gem of Wiñaywayna (2650 m), where a delicious box lunch awaits. As you journey along the Inca Trail, take a moment to connect with the Apus (mountain spirits) and Pachamama (Mother Earth), allowing the profound energy of this sacred land to inspire you. After lunch, tackle the steep stairs for approximately 1.5 hours until you reach the Sun Gate (Intipunku 2750 m), rewarding yourself with the first breathtaking views of Machu Picchu. From there, descend for an hour to reach Machu Picchu, followed by a bus ride down to Aguas Calientes for an overnight stay at a cozy hotel.

Route: Aguas Calientes → Machu Picchu → Cusco.
Start your day with an early breakfast before embarking on a 30-minute bus journey to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu. Fulfill your dreams as you explore this historical wonder with our expert guide, who will help unravel its mysteries and ingenious structures crafted by Inca engineers. As you walk through the ancient site, take time to meditate and absorb the incredible energy and spirit of Machu Picchu, deepening your connection with the land and its rich spiritual heritage. Choose to hike either Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, or simply savor the park’s essence with a guided tour. After your exploration, return to Aguas Calientes for lunch on your own. Following your meal, enjoy a scenic train ride back to Ollantaytambo station, where our Pumadventures representative will be waiting to escort you back to your hotel in Cusco.
