Itinerary

Full Day Experience in Cusco or Sacred Valley

The San Pedro or Wachuma Master Plant represents the connection between human beings, Mother Earth (Pachamama), and the universe. In this ceremony, we reconnect with something we were born with, with our divine essence belonging to Mother Earth, which often remains dormant within us and which we can awaken with a single intention. The ceremonies are held in sacred Inca sites. It is considered by the descendants of the ancient peoples of the Americas to be the Master Plant, used in ancient times for the cleansing and purification of the body, mind, and spirit.

The visions attained through San Pedro or Wachuma allow you to connect with and better understand who you are and what your mission in life is, helping you answer questions that have always been present within you.

Prepare for the day of unconditional love and honesty. Your journey into the sacred realm of San Pedro in Cusco starts at 8 am when we pick you up from your hotel. We’ll travel to our decided place of ceremony for the day (we love working in Quillarumyoc and Chinchero, and have many wonderful proposals for awesome places to work and it can be decided by Master or be chosen by you), where our Master will guide you through the sacred San Pedro or Wachuma ceremony, detailing the benefits and effects of the powerful ancestral plant medicine.

We will commence with the kintu as an offering and blessings the space. Where we open sacred space by asking permission from Mountain Spirits and Mother Earth, followed by a cleansing centered on forgiveness and letting go of any fears, easing your path to the spiritual ceremony. Usually the ceremony will last for about 5 hours whereafter we’ll complete the sacred San Pedro ceremony in gratitude, fostering a deeper connection with nature, and then enjoy a nourishing lunch before returning you to your hotel in Cusco or Sacred Valley in the late afternoon.

FLOWER OF CACTUS SAN PEDRO

FAQs

San Pedro, also known as Wachuma, is a sacred cactus native to the Andes of Peru that has been used for thousands of years in traditional healing ceremonies. It is considered a “heart-opening” plant medicine, helping participants connect deeply with nature, themselves, and their emotions. Unlike other plant medicines, Wachuma is typically consumed during daytime ceremonies in natural settings such as the Sacred Valley near Cusco.

Ayahuasca and San Pedro (Wachuma) are both powerful plant medicines, but they offer very different experiences. Ayahuasca is traditionally used at night and focuses on deep introspection, emotional release, and confronting the subconscious. In contrast, San Pedro is taken during the day and provides a more gentle, heart-centered experience, promoting clarity, peace, and connection with nature. Many travelers choose based on their intention: inner healing (Ayahuasca) or emotional openness and balance (Wachuma).

The effects of San Pedro (Wachuma) are often described as gentle yet profound. Participants may feel a deep sense of peace, emotional clarity, and connection to nature. Visual enhancements, heightened awareness, and introspective insights are common, but usually less intense than Ayahuasca. The experience can last between 8 to 12 hours and is often accompanied by guided rituals, music, and time spent in nature.

San Pedro (Wachuma) is known for its emotional and spiritual benefits. It can help release negative emotions, reduce stress, and promote a sense of inner peace. Many participants report increased self-awareness, improved mental clarity, and a stronger connection with the natural world. It is also valued for fostering compassion, gratitude, and personal growth in a supportive ceremonial environment.

Preparing for a San Pedro ceremony usually involves following a simple and clean diet. It is recommended to avoid alcohol, drugs, red meat, processed foods, and excessive sugar for at least 1–2 days before the ceremony. Eating light, natural foods such as fruits, vegetables, and grains helps prepare the body and mind for the experience. Staying hydrated and setting a clear intention are also key parts of the preparation.

San Pedro (Wachuma) is generally considered safe when taken in a traditional and guided ceremonial setting with experienced facilitators. However, it is not recommended for people with certain medical conditions or those taking specific medications. As with any plant medicine, proper preparation, guidance, and respect for the process are essential to ensure a safe and meaningful experience.

More Than a Tour

“The tour guides made this trip! There was far more to this adventure than the sites, though the sites were powerful. Along with Puma, Rebi and Neliba shared their experiences and led ceremonies snd rituals from the heart. The energies were often palpable. The accommodations were exceptional. Some participants had the energy to find time to enjoy the evenings in social gatherings. If you are highly affected by the energies and experiences you may wish to spend time assimilating.”

Life Changing

“Last year through Sacred Journeys, we met Puma and his family of medicine teachers. Since then we've been studying with his school and decided to go back this fall. We arranged our own tour with two of our good friend (they had an Andean wedding). The love, the intention, the teachings are incredible. I can't recommend strongly enough going on a trip with Puma Adventures. Life-changing!”

Being in the presence of Puma Fredy's awesomeness!

“Being in the presence of Puma Fredy's love and wisdom was the most important thing to me. Also being in the sacred land of Peru, sitting with medicine, meeting the other healers such as Mama Irene and don Sebastian. Listening to the music of Tito de la Rosa. Being with the amazing Shift Network team that include the guides Odon, Nelida and Rebelino, etc. Listening to Ali Maya, Lindsay Wise, Dr. Dan and Dr. Chris. All of this was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life! Also meeting the other like-minded participants who I've made relationships with. And last but not least, learning about myself!!”

Outstanding!!! Pumadventures is the most professional…

“Pumadventures is the most professional tour operating business I’ve ever experienced. Around 100 peoples needs needed to be met and they went above and beyond to look after our needs. They had enough guides to lead smaller groups and these guides were very knowledgeable especially Odon, the leader of my small group. PA is a really close family group and they all made us feel welcomed, safe and they really looked after our well being.”
