What type of experiences does PumAdventures offer in Peru?
We specialize in transformational journeys that combine traditional treks with spiritual healing. We offer Ayahuasca and Wachuma (San Pedro) retreats, authentic Andean ceremonies (such as offerings to the Pachamama), in addition to the iconic Inca Trail, Salkantay Trek, and tours to Machu Picchu.
How should I prepare for an Ayahuasca or Wachuma ceremony in Cusco?
For our ceremonies in the Sacred Valley, we require physical and mental preparation. It is essential to follow a specific diet (no red meat, alcohol, refined sugars, or caffeine) for at least 3 to 5 days before the retreat to purify the body and connect deeply with the sacred medicines.
When is the best time to hike the Inca Trail and visit Machu Picchu? The ideal season is during the dry season in the Andes, which runs from April to October. During these months, the days are sunny and there is a lower chance of rain, guaranteeing safer trails and clear views in mountains like Ausangate or Rainbow Mountain.
How does PumAdventures help with altitude sickness (soroche)?
We recommend arriving in Cusco (3,400 masl) at least 1 or 2 days before starting any trek or spiritual retreat. Our team will welcome you with coca tea, and our shamans and guides are trained to assist you in the acclimatization process safely and naturally.
Are the ceremonies guided by authentic shamans?
Yes. PumAdventures is a family with deep roots in the Andes. Our retreats are guided by medicine men and women (Pampamisayoq) from communities like Chinchero, ensuring a safe, holistic healing space with the utmost respect for ancestral traditions.
